About Me
A sociology foundation with a practical analytics mindset. I am comfortable working with data, communicating clearly with stakeholders, and translating findings into concrete next steps.
Alongside my sociology degree at Nottingham Trent University, I have invested time in building technical skills that support data-informed decision-making: querying structured data with SQL, building professional dashboards in Power BI, and presenting clear reporting for non-technical audiences.
My academic work explores how social context, behaviour, and systems interact. I complement that qualitative perspective with quantitative analysis, using data to frame questions, test assumptions, and communicate practical insights that are easy to act on.
From a sociology perspective, I pay attention to how context, structure, and lived experience shape outcomes. This helps me frame questions thoughtfully and keep people at the centre of any analysis.

Retail sales performance report
Built a mock dataset and analysis around multi-store retail performance, focusing on weekly sales, product mix, and basic margin indicators. Designed a report that answered questions such as which stores are consistently over/under-performing and which product categories drive revenue.
Outcome: Demonstrated a practical understanding of how commercial teams think about performance, and how analytics can point to pragmatic actions like range optimisation or local campaigns. Survey data exploration
Worked with anonymised survey data to explore attitudes, behaviours, and demographic differences. Cleaned responses, created derived variables, and visualised relationships between key indicators to support written analysis.
Outcome: Produced a coherent narrative that tied statistical observations back to sociological concepts, illustrating an ability to link numbers and theory in a structured way.

At around 50% promotional focus, performance is balanced: key stores receive support without overwhelming margin. The next sensible question is whether specific locations or categories merit targeted campaigns.

Personal note
Why I built this website
You may be wondering why I went to the effort of buying a domain, building a site from scratch, and iterating on the details. The short answer is that I wanted the freedom to speak in my own voice and to learn how the web actually works.
Creating this site has been a deliberate choice to step beyond templates and closed platforms. I wanted unlimited freedom in how things are presented, and a space where I can decide what matters rather than being constrained by someone else's design or algorithm.
Along the way, I have been developing my understanding of web creation and coding so that I can express myself in a constantly evolving, complex online world. For me, this site is both a portfolio and a learning project: a place where sociology, data, and digital craft meet.
